As we plan for TRRE's
expansion to the Lakes Region south of the notch NH, we'd like to introduce two new key TRRE team members, Bryan Mascio and Emilie Coppinger. The planning process will
begin this fall and will continue through the winter as we prepare for the next
cohort of TRRE students (known as “residents”) who will begin in May 2019.
Bryan Mascio, TRRE Postdoctoral
Associate, main responsibilities for TRRE are to establish and maintain
partnerships with schools and districts south of the notch; conduct research on
teacher learning, development, and practice; and teach courses to graduate
students enrolled in the TRRE program. Bryan earned a master’s degree in Mind
Brain and Education, and recently completed his doctorate in Human Development
and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). His primary
research focuses on the social-emotional-cognitive skills of teaching and the
development of those complex skills. He continues to work with schools to
support those skills and their application to teachers’ and students’ learning
and growth. This fall, Bryan will be reaching out to Lakes Region
administrators to identify the potential residency schools and teaching mentors
for the next cohort of TRRE residents.
Emilie Coppinger is a doctoral student in the UNH Education
Department, with the specialization Children and Youth in Communities, as well
as a graduate assistant for the TRRE program. While completing her M.Ed. in
Educational Studies at UNH, she became involved in research within a rural
community in Nepal where she explored the perceptions of local grade-school
teachers toward the integration of technology in their classrooms. This
research opened Emilie's eyes to the incredibly valuable local knowledge in
rural communities around the world. Emilie will be working closely with
UNH Cooperative Extension and school partners to establish community-based
partnerships that will serve as host sites for residents’ community-based
internships in the Lakes Region.
Bryan and Emilie C.
will be working with Lakes Region school partners, in conjunction with the TRRE team, as we move
forward. To view a complete list of TRRE Faculty and staff visit: https://cola.unh.edu/education/program/trre/faculty-and-staff
